Gabon has successfully priced $920 million in 9.375% amortizing notes due in 2033, with part of the proceeds set aside to clear a portion of the country's external debt arrears while the remainder will support general government financing.
The bond issuance marks another step in Gabon's efforts to stabilise its public finances as the government works to improve debt transparency and restore investor confidence.
Authorities said preliminary findings from an ongoing audit indicate that the country's recorded debt stock is expected to decline significantly once the review is completed.
The audit, which covers government commitments made between 2016 and 2024, is expected to be published next month, providing a clearer picture of Gabon's public debt obligations.
The outcome of the review is likely to be closely watched by international investors and creditors as Gabon seeks to strengthen fiscal credibility and improve access to global capital markets.
