By Ukumbi Afrika Ukraine's grain exports have risen sharply at the start of the 2026/27 marketing season, with wheat and corn shipments significantly exceeding volumes recorded during the same period last year, according to data released by the country's agriculture ministry.
As of July 27, Ukraine had exported a total of 2.357 million metric tons of grain since the marketing season began on July 1, compared with 1.297 million metric tons by July 30 in the previous 2025/26 season.
Corn led the increase, with exports reaching 1.209 million metric tons, nearly double the 0.613 million tons shipped during the comparable period last year.
Wheat exports also showed strong growth, climbing to 0.961 million metric tons from 0.487 million tons a year earlier.
Barley exports, however, edged slightly lower to 0.183 million metric tons, compared with 0.191 million tons during the same period of the previous season.
The higher export volumes underscore strong demand for Ukrainian grain despite ongoing logistical and geopolitical challenges affecting the country's agricultural sector.
